Project Xibka

Scouting & Removal of Ghost Nets from Malta's reefs.

Originally funded by the BeMed Foundation (Monaco), the project is targeted at derelict fishing gears (DFGs). So far, this project has collected DFGs from different sites around Malta, totalling over 171 nets, including Sikka tal-Qammieh, Sikka l-Bajda and Anchor Bay. As a result, it has successfully gained both local and international recognition. In addition, a reporting service is available for fishermen to report lost or stuck nets.
